Landowner Town Hall with PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro
Attorney General Josh Shapiro is hosting a landowner town hall event on Thursday, Jan. 24th, beginning at 4:45 p.m. at Towanda Area Junior/Senior High School at 1 High School Drive, Towanda, PA 18848.

I know that many residents in the 84th District and across Northeast Pennsylvania have expressed interest in landowner rights, and this is an opportunity for you to ask questions and get informed.

Veterans Outreach Hours at My Office
I want to notify the veterans in the 84th District that American Legion Service Officer Dan Falls will be available at my office starting Feb. 26 to meet with them. After this date, he will be available at the office every fourth Tuesday of the month, or by appointment.

Call (570) 546-2084 to schedule an appointment in advance.

Veterans in the 84th Legislative District can also contact MSGT George W. Heiges, Jr. (Ret.), Director of Veterans Affairs, Lycoming County Office of Veterans Affairs at (570) 320-2101 or (570) 327-2365. In Union County, contact Director J.D. Kerstetter, Union County Office of Veterans Affairs at (570) 524-8677.

Services to veterans and their dependents include assistance with:
• Compensation, pension, and death benefits
• Education and health care
• Veterans benefits

Veterans do not need to be a member of the American Legion to receive services.

Lane Restriction on Little Pine Creek Road Near Waterville
A long-term lane restriction has been implemented on Route 4001 (Little Pine Creek Road) in Cummings Township, Lycoming County, due to an active landslide.

• The slide is located just north of the Village of Waterville.

• Traffic is controlled by stop signs at either end of the slide.

• Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the area.

Meals on Wheels Needs Volunteers!
Are you looking for a charitable cause for the new year? Look into volunteering for Meals on Wheels to make a huge impact in a short amount of time.

Volunteers are needed at all STEP centers for healthy aging. They need drivers, assistants, and coordinators to donate their time one or more days per week.

To sign up, call (570) 323-3096 or visit the STEP Office of Aging at 2138 Lincoln Street, Williamsport or any senior community center. Learn more about the program on their website

Radon – Is Your Home Safe?
An estimated 40 percent of Pennsylvania homes have higher levels of radon than national safety standards, due to the state’s geology. However, residents can perform a simple test to detect this gas, which is considered the second leading cause of lung cancer.

Radon is an odorless, colorless radioactive gas that occurs naturally from the breakdown of uranium in soil and rocks and enters homes through cracks in the foundation or other openings. High levels of radon tend to be found in basements, but the gas can be found anywhere in the home.

Winter is a good time to test for radon, because doors and windows are generally closed, providing more accurate results. Simple radon test kits are inexpensive and available at home improvement and hardware stores.

January is national Radon Action Month. For more information on radon in the home, click here.

Protect Your Vehicle from Theft
Nearly half of all stolen vehicles are due to driver error. You can protect your vehicle from theft with these simple steps:

Always take your keys. Don’t leave them in or on your vehicle.
Close and lock all windows and doors when you park.
Park in well-lit areas.
Never leave valuables in your vehicle, especially where they can be seen.
Never leave your vehicle while it’s running.
Park your vehicle in a garage, if possible.
