Everett Encourages Residents to Contact Gov. Tom Wolf for Release of Funds for Muncy Boat Launch Ramp
8/3/2018
MUNCY – Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming/Union) is working to get $250,000 in funding, released from Act 52 of 2017, to get a new fishing and boating access ramp built on the Muncy Access of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.

“This is a popular recreation area for the entire region.” said Everett. “Since the closure of the ramp by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) in the fall of 2016, a great inconvenience has been caused to a number of outdoor sports enthusiasts.”

In the long term, Everett committed to work on procuring the funding needed for a new launch, which is PFBC’s preferred solution. To that end, and after recently receiving a firm commitment from PFBC that they would construct a new site if he secured $250,000, he sent a letter to the governor with the support of Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Bradford/Lycoming/Sullivan/Susquehanna/Union) asking for the release of a portion of funds contained in Act 52 of 2017 specifically for that purpose.

Everett has a letter posted on his website that residents can download and send to the governor at www.RepEverett.com.

Everett said there has been a significant economic impact as well as hardships for those who enjoy fishing and boating.

“This closure has had a negative impact on local shops and restaurants in the area,” said Everett. “I hope this can be resolved as soon as possible.”
