Wheeland and Everett Say Disaster Assistance Approved for Lycoming County
11/22/2016
HARRISBURG – Reps. Jeff Wheeland (R-Lycoming) and Garth Everett (R-Lycoming/Union) today said the U.S Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved a request to declare Lycoming County a disaster area following the severe storms and heavy flooding that occurred on Oct. 21. Significant damage was done to homes and businesses in the county.

With the designation, homeowners, renters and businesses may now be eligible for low-interest disaster loans through the SBA Disaster Loan Program.

“This is welcome news for our residents who have endured severe damage from the flooding and now can pursue a course of improving their property and quality of life,” said Wheeland. “I urge residents to contact the SBA as soon as possible.”
Everett said the availability of this assistance will help repair and rebuild parts of the county.

“Many residents have called my offices hoping that some type of relief would be available, and I am glad we can now give them this news,” said Everett. “The damage is very severe in a number of areas, and this aid will be vital to ensuring necessary repairs can be made.”

The SBA has established a Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Lycoming County to issue loan applications, answer questions about the disaster loan program, explain the application process and help individuals to complete their applications. The center is located at the Lycoming County Department of Public Safety – Lysock Complex, 542 County Farm Road, Montoursville. It is scheduled to open Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. and will operate weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday, Dec. 8. The center also will be open Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 4.

Individuals and businesses unable to visit the center in person may obtain information and loan applications by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 (1-800-877-8339 for the hearing impaired), or by e-mailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

Loan applications can also be downloaded at sba.gov/disaster. Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via the SBA’s secure website here. Completed applications should be returned to the center or mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.

The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is Jan. 17, 2017. The deadline to return economic injury applications is Aug. 18, 2017.
