Everett Presents Watsontown Eagle Scout with House Citation
Rep. Garth Everett is shown here with new Eagle Scout Matthew Gummo, his brother, fellow Eagle Scout Andrew and Martha Milbrand, aide to Sen. John Gordner.
– Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming) recently presented a House citation to Eagle Scout Matthew A. Gummo in recognition of his achievement in scouting. The citation was also signed by Rep. Lynda Schlegel-Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder).
“This is an excellent example of what our young people do in this region and it is a privilege to honor this young man who has worked diligently to attain this level of achievement,” said Everett.
Gummo, son of John and Cassandra Gummo, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 610 based at the Watsontown United Methodist Church.
For his Eagle Scout project, Gummo worked on refurbishing baseball fields at the Moser Field Complex in Turbotville, where he played baseball as a youth.
Gummo is the second member of his family to attain the level of Eagle Scout. His brother, Andrew, is also an Eagle Scout, and was the one who issued the traditional Scout challenge and oath to Matthew.
The Court of Honor ceremony was held at the Allenwood Federal Correctional Complex Training Center.
