Everett Says Medicare Annual Enrollment Underway
MUNCY – The Pennsylvania Department of Aging is reminding seniors that the annual enrollment period for Medicare is underway now through Friday, Dec. 7, and that counseling through the APPRISE program is available, said Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming) today.

“Figuring your way through the intricacies of the Medicare program is certainly not easy, and the state provides volunteer assistance with enrollment,” said Everett. “This is a good program that ensures all of the enrollments are done accurately for the benefit of our residents.”

Everett said the APPRISE counselors provide objective, easy-to-understand information about Medicare, Medicare supplemental insurance, Medicaid and long-term care insurance in order for older adults to compare plans and determine which best meets their needs.

APPRISE volunteers work through local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), such as the Clinton/Lycoming Bi-County AAA. Throughout Pennsylvania, more than 670 trained volunteers provided 82,000 counseling hours last year.

In Lycoming County, help is available on Mondays from 9a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon at the APPRISE office, Lincoln STEP Building, 2138 Lincoln St. in Williamsport. Residents may call (570) 323-3096 to schedule an appointment.
