Everett Meets With Corrections Officers on Pensions and Other Issues

Recently, Rep. Garth Everett met with a group of state corrections officers at his office in Pennsdale to discuss the Commonwealth’s pension issues. Pictured here after the meeting are Larry D. Sonnie Jr., business agent, Pennsylvania State Corrections Officer Association; Everett; and Gary Gray, a local executive board member of the association.
– In a continuing effort to keep lines of communication open on legislative issues, Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming) recently met with a group of state corrections officers at his district office to discussion pensions and other state-related issues.
“The essence of successful representation in our region is communication with constituents on a wide range of issues, and I was pleased to sit down with a group of workers in our corrections system who face a tough and demanding job every day,” said Everett. “Obviously, the pension issue is one that means a lot to their individual lives and to their families. We had a broad and frank discussion on pensions and other issues, such as funding for pensions and corrections in the state budget. I look forward to having a continuing dialogue with them.”
Everett said he and members of the Pennsylvania State Corrections Officers Association pledged to work together to solve issues and problems that confront workers, not only in the region, but throughout the Commonwealth.
He said the meeting was positive on all fronts and, with the current legislative session ending and a new one in the future, there are many challenges ahead for the Commonwealth.
