Muncy Archery Champions Receive House Citations From Everett
6/12/2014
Jackson ‘J.D.’ Lunger and Bethany Lunger of Muncy accept House citations from Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming) and House Speaker Sam Smith (R-Armstrong/Indiana/Jefferson) during a ceremony in the House chamber.
HARRISBURG
– Following the lead of their sister, Emalee, who won a state archery championship last year, 11-year-old Bethany and 7-year-old Jackson “J.D.” Lunger were presented with House citations for winning national and state titles in archery, said Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming).

“The Lunger family, led by parents Mike and Tracy, has once again recorded great achievements in the sport of archery,” said Everett. “Bethany and J.D. graced us with their presence on the House floor, and it is a privilege to present them with a House citation, honoring the achievements which make all of us proud. This is a great example of family togetherness and bonding with a sport.”

Bethany Lunger won first place in the Cub Female Bow Hunter Free Style Division of the 2014 National Field Archery Association (NFAA) Indoor Championship held recently in Louisville, Ky. She also won first place in the Pennsylvania State Archery Association Indoor Championship Cadet Female Division while breaking the point record previously set by her sister, Emalee.

J.D. Lunger became the youngest Pennsylvania State Archery Champion with his win in his division, competing against boys up to age 12. In addition, he won the NFAA Outdoor State Championship in Stowe, Pennsylvania, and in the NFAA National Indoor Championship, he placed ninth of 25 in his division, (also in Louisville.)

Everett said he is pleased that the prediction he made last year came to fruition when, while presenting Emalee Lunger with a citation last year, there would be more than one family member to win a title.
