Everett Talks About Royalty Legislation on Radio Program
HARRISBURG – As legislation designed to clarify royalty payments for land owners with conventional and Marcellus drilling sites continues to be worked on in Harrisburg, Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming), author of House Bill 1684, spoke about the issue in an interview on WITF-Harrisburg’s Radio Smart Talk program this week.

“This is very important legislation and I am pleased that many media outlets in parts of the Commonwealth are paying close attention to the issue,” said Everett.

House Bill 1684 seeks not only to remedy lease payments, but to ensure that drilling companies do not deduct excessive and unwarranted post-production costs from the payments as well.

Speaking with WITF Capitol Bureau Chief Mary Wilson, Everett explained the background and the status of House Bill 1684, saying it is an issue of having land owners being treated fairly by drilling companies.

“We have been working long and hard on this issue to try and address all of the issues involved to level the playing field for land owners,” said Everett. “This bill needs to be passed by the full House as soon as possible.”
