Everett Presents House Citation to State Champion Archer
6/17/2013
Emalee Lunger of Muncy accepts a House citation from Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming) and House Speaker Sam Smith (R-Armstrong/Indiana Jefferson) during a ceremony in the House chamber.
HARRISBURG –
Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming) honored Emalee Lunger of Muncy today with the presentation of a House citation for her state championship in the Pennsylvania State Indoor Archery Cadet Bowhunter Unlimited AA challenge category.

“This is an outstanding achievement in a sport that is very difficult as the skills required to be successful in archery require patience, persistence and practice,” said Everett. “Emalee has made all of us proud, and it is a privilege to have hosted her and her family in the House chamber.”

Everett said Lunger, 11, not only won the state championship, but also broke the state one-day record in her category with a score of 527 out of a possible 600 points.

The Pennsylvania State Indoor Archery Competition was held at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg on March 23 and 24.

Lunger, the daughter of Mike and Tracy Lunger, was accompanied on the House floor by her grandparents, Dale and Mary Lunger, and siblings, Jackson and Bethany.

Emalee is not the only expert archer in the family. Next week, she will be competing with her parents and two siblings at the State Outdoor Archery Championship, where Everett predicts more than one member of the Lunger family will win a title.
