Recreation and Conservation Grant Application Period is Open, Says Everett
HARRISBURG -- Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming) said today the application period for Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) recreation and conservation grants is open for communities and organizations until April 10.

“These grants have gone a long way in many areas to help promote improvements in recreational areas and in developing local programs,” said Everett.

Last year, $26.5 million was awarded to communities through the DCNR grant program. The funds come from the Environmental Stewardship Fund, the Keystone Park, Recreation and Conservation Fund, the Snowmobile/ATV Fund and other federal sources. This program funds projects that plan for, acquire, develop and/or rehabilitate public park, recreation, open space, greenway, trail and conservation areas and facilities.

Everett said entities that are eligible to apply include municipalities, municipal agencies, pre-qualified land trusts, 501c (3) nonprofits and other appropriate, authorized agencies.

The awarding of grants will be announced later this year.
