Everett Encourages Dog Owners to Purchase 2013 Licenses
HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania 2013 dog licenses are available beginning Dec. 1, and Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming) is encouraging all owners in the region to get their dogs properly licensed in advance of the new year.

“Purchasing a dog license can be one of the most beneficial things you can do to aid in protecting man’s best friend,” said Everett.” There are many benefits to licensing as lost dogs can be traced 24 hours a day, every year, in every part of the Commonwealth. In addition, the purchase of a dog license helps dogs all over Pennsylvania by supporting the Department of Agriculture’s Dog Law Enforcement Office. The office helps ensure the welfare of breeding dogs and puppies in commercial breeding kennels, regulates dangerous dogs and oversees annual licensure and rabies vaccinations.”

Everett said the annual license fee is $8.45 with a lifetime license available at $51.45. If the dog is spayed or neutered, the fees drop to $6.45 annually and $31.45 for the lifetime of the dog.

In 2011, more than 920,000 individual dog licenses were sold in Pennsylvania, including 884,731 individual and 36,066 lifetime licenses.

Residents can get license applications online at the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture website at
