Everett Home Run Derby Team Wins ‘Take A Swing Against Breast Cancer’ Event in Williamsport

MUNCY – The annual “Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer” Home Run Derby event at historic Bowman Field in Williamsport was won for the second time in five years by a team coached by Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming). Everett is the author of House Resolution 769 honoring the event and the drive to eradicate breast cancer in Pennsylvania.
“A great deal of effort goes into this event each year in Williamsport and at other minor league baseball cities in the Commonwealth, all to continue to raise awareness of breast cancer, and to highlight the outreach, education and advocacy that takes place throughout the year,” said Everett. “I am grateful to everyone who participated in the event and all who supported it in other ways.”
House Resolution 769 additionally honors the efforts of the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition for its work in fighting the disease that affects 103,000 women, with 9,000 being diagnosed each year.
The winning derby team, named the Rep. Garth Everett/Blaise Alexander Family of Dealerships team consisted of Everett, Adam Alexander, Charley Hall, Randy Christ and Matt McLaughlin.
In addition to the Williamsport Crosscutters of the New York Penn League, other minor league franchises in Harrisburg, York, Reading, Lancaster, Altoona, Erie and Washington.
