HARRISBURG – Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming/Union) was assigned to serve on two committees during the 2019-20 legislative session: Game and Fisheries and State Government. Everett is serving as State Government Committee chairman.
“I’m very pleased to be continuing my work on the Game and Fisheries Committee, and am proud to be a consistent advocate for the many conservationists, fishing and boating enthusiasts and land owners in my district,” said Everett. “I look forward to continuing my close relationship with the Game Commission and Fish and Boat Commission to ensure our state remains a great place for our outdoor enthusiasts and businesses.
“In addition, I am thrilled to be serving on the State Government Committee as chairman in the coming session. First and foremost, I’m committed to doing all I can to make our state government as transparent and efficient as possible for its citizens. This includes ensuring corruption in government agencies is quickly rooted out and burdensome regulations and unconstitutional initiatives and laws are investigated and repealed,” said Everett.
The House Game and Fisheries Committee receives and reviews annual performance and status reports from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. It also approves the setting of license fees that support each commission and addresses all legislation affecting them.
The House State Government Committee is responsible for reviewing legislation dealing with all aspects of state government, including proposed amendments to the Pennsylvania Constitution, statewide initiatives and referenda, the Public Official and Employee Ethics Act, the Regulatory Review Act, legislative redistricting, Election Code reform, lobbyist disclosure and campaign financing.
